Our Story
Hi there! We are Matt & Evelyn, the "ME" in TrekAlongWithME!
Our journey together began in 2017 when we happened to cross paths in Cancun, Mexico, while both vacationing separately. We spent a little less than 24 hours together, but just knew there was something special there. Ever since then, we’ve been inseparable! Flying back and forth and meeting up in different locations to see each other, travel was not only a normal part of our lives, but a necessity. Long distance hasn’t been easy, but through dedication and commitment, we were able to make it work. While our relationship grew, so did our love for travel.
While we both still work 9-5 jobs, we haven’t let that stop us from exploring different places and making time for adventures. We’ve been able to travel to various locations around North, South and Central America together, focusing on authentic, cultural experiences without breaking the bank.
About Us
Meet Matt
Born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Matthew feels at home in the thin air of high elevations. He has a passion for everything that nature has to offer, and enjoys being outdoors in nature and the wilderness.
Matthew has an incredible appreciation for life. He believes that each day we live is a day to be grateful for. He strives to live each day in the moment and with no regrets.
Although his parents provided many experiences visiting Colorado’s gems when he was young, his real passion for travel came at a later age through his encounters with Evelyn. This was solidified during their first trip together to Colombia, where he experienced a little taste of what life is like around the world.
His interests include traveling, exercising, hiking, snowboarding, baseball, and other various sports. Matthew believes that the mind is a greater force than most realize. He focuses each day on bettering himself, the world around him, and on doing whatever it is that makes him (as well as others) happy.
Meet Evelyn
Her love for travel started in her early days when she would go to places around the world on family vacations, dreaming about the next place they would go. As an adult, her solo adventures all started during an international school exchange when she went to Melbourne, Australia only to end up falling in love with the country. One skipped semester and a year later, she went back to her home in Toronto, Canada only to feel restless again before she set off on a new adventure going on her first solo backpacking trip to South America, visiting countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.
During her spare time, you can find Evelyn keeping herself busy trying new recipes, staying active, bullet journaling and pursuing her next side project (much like this one). She believes that the world is too grand not to explore, and that dreams are only goals without an action plan put in place.
